In today’s edition:

  • 🤝 Rich Froning and Jason Khalipa just announced a new collaboration between Mayhem Nation and NCFIT aimed squarely at helping gym owners thrive.

  • 🔥 Many women train hard but unknowingly under-fuel, triggering RED-S, a condition that quietly drains strength, energy, and progress.

  • 🇬🇧 24 WODs. 24 hours. One mission. CrossFit Leamington is rallying to support 6-year-old member Hugo, who lives with a rare metabolic liver disease.

On the most recent episode of The Rich Froning Podcast, CrossFit pioneers Rich Froning, Austin Malleolo, and Jason Khalipa announced that their companies are collaborating.

The details: After reminiscing about their days together competing under the bright lights of the 2010 CrossFit Games in Carson, CA, the Games legends explained that the collaboration between Mayhem Nation and NCFIT isn’t a merger; instead, it's a way to combine their platforms, knowledge, and resources to support gym owners and coaches in their respective networks.

Why the collaboration?

  • Because, as Froning put it, “There's a need for more cohesion. And more help. Gym owners need help.”

The two CrossFit OGs hope that, through the collaboration, coaches and gym owners will be better served, as they will now have access to the invaluable business tools, systems, and programming that both Mayhem and NCFIT have gathered over the last decade.

The Hidden Nutrition Gap Stalling Women’s Performance

For female athletes, nutrition isn’t just about fueling workouts; it’s also about supporting hormonal health, energy, strength, and long-term well-being.

Yet many women still train hard while unintentionally under-fueling.

  • The result? A cluster of symptoms that often go unnoticed until performance plateaus or health issues emerge.

This cluster is called “RED-S,” or Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. Understanding it can be a game-changer for female athletes at all levels.

Let’s break down what every female athlete needs to know about energy intake, hormones, and performance, without the confusing jargon.

24 Workouts in 24 Hours: UK Gym Raising Money to Support Six-Year-Old Member

Florence Kinnafick’s six-year-old son, Hugo, has a rare metabolic liver disease. Both attend CrossFit Leamington in the United Kingdom and are hosting a one-day fundraiser for a charity that supports people diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD).

The event titled “Hugo’s WOD Squad” will begin at noon on January 31, 2026, at CrossFit Leamington (CFL). It will showcase 24 “Hero” workouts over 24 hours. Each participant will complete one workout every hour on the hour for 24 hours.

  • “As a friend of the family, and someone lucky enough to have gotten to know Flo [Florence] and Hugo properly, I can honestly say they embody everything people talk about when they describe a CrossFit community,” Rich Morris, a friend of the family and member of CrossFit Leamington, tells Morning Chalk Up in an interview.

In May 2020, Hugo underwent several blood tests and a genetic panel. Soon after, he was diagnosed with GSD type 3b. The disease is a rare inherited metabolic disorder that affects glycogen storage and can cause glycogen to accumulate in organs such as the liver.

  • “Hugo’s liver can’t release the glucose to provide him with the energy he needs for day-to-day life. Without frequent feeds around the clock with a specific, strict diet plus a modified cornstarch drink feed during the night, he suffers from severe hypoglycemia,” according to Kinnafick.
