Adidas Athletes Take on 25.1 in Germany
POWERED BY:
Good morning and welcome to the Morning Chalk Up.
In today’s edition:
Adidas invited its sponsored athletes to train together in Germany and take on 25.1 with the local community at Riginal CrossFit Nürnberg last week. We were on site for all the action, and you can check out the first part of our recap below.
How to boost your immune system to stay healthy during the transition season.
Find out how Antron Brown, four-time NHRA drag racing champion, incorporates CrossFit into his training for both performance and longevity.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“CrossFit has helped me get mentally and emotionally stronger, because that's what we're doing when we're training, too. It's not just training your body; it's training your mind.” - Antron Brown, four-time NHRA drag racing champion, on using CrossFit methodology to train for his sport.
CROSSFIT GAMES
Adidas Athletes and Community Take on 25.1 at Riginal CrossFit Nürnberg in Germany
Lateral burpees over the dumbbell, dumbbell hang cleans to overhead, and bodyweight walking lunges – CrossFit Open workout 25.1 was a movement triplet, programmed as an AMRAP in 15 minutes.
More than 200,000 people worldwide participated in the workout, with a handful of athletes tackling it together at Riginal CrossFit Nürnberg in Nürnberg, Germany.
The group workout was organized by Adidas, which has its world headquarters located just 20 minutes down the road. And we were behind the scenes for all the action.
Sydney Wells, Bethany Flores, Jennifer Muir, Ella Wilkinson, Ty Jenkins, Jorge Fernandez, Kaique Cerveny, and Bill Leahy took to the floor under the literal Friday night lights to kick off the 2025 CrossFit season.
The details: While every affiliate has a unique flair, there was no mistaking the fact that we were all celebrating at a German gym.
To mark the event, there were bratwursts, sauerkraut, and rolls for hungry athletes and spectators, as well as German beer and coffee.
Stands were moved in, as the owners knew that affiliate members would want to stick around and watch the main event: eight of the Adidas athletes taking on the workout side by side.

Nutrition for Immune Support – How to Stay Healthy in Transition Seasons
As the seasons change, so does the strain on our immune system.
Fluctuating temperatures, increased exposure to seasonal allergens, and shifts in routine can make our bodies more susceptible to illness.
Supporting your immune system with proper nutrition is one of the best ways to stay healthy during these transitions.
This article explores the key nutrients, foods, and habits that can help strengthen your body's defenses and keep you feeling your best year-round.
Essential Nutrients for Immune Support
Vitamin C – This antioxidant helps boost immune cell function. You can find it in citrus fruits, bell peppers, and strawberries.
Vitamin D – This is important for immune response. You can get it from sunlight, fatty fish, and fortified foods.
Zinc – A key mineral for immune function found in nuts, seeds, and lean meats.
Probiotics – A healthy gut microbiome strengthens immunity. To reap the benefits of probiotics, consider adding foods like yogurt, kefir, and fermented foods.
Antioxidants & Phytonutrients – Found in colorful fruits and vegetables. They help combat inflammation and oxidative stress. A good tip is to try to have approximately four to six colors per meal.

3 Guaranteed Ways To Crush the CrossFit Open This Year
The CrossFit Open is here—a time when athletes worldwide test their limits, whether aiming for the CrossFit Games or engaging in friendly competition at their local box.
To maximize your performance this season, consider how the tips and tricks below can be your ally in three crucial areas.
1. Elevate Your Nutrition
Fueling your body with the right nutrients is paramount. Beyond counting macros, be mindful of refined sugars and caffeine intake. Traditional energy drinks laden with high sugar, artificial sweeteners, and synthetic caffeine can hinder more than help. The quality, quantity, and timing of how you fuel your body matter.
FITAID offers a superior alternative with its clean Energy line, featuring zero-sugar options naturally sweetened and packed with 200mg of caffeine derived from green tea.
This clean energy boost ensures you're primed for every WOD or dialed-in judging.
For athletes on the move, FITAID’s convenient powder packets come in six refreshing flavors, allowing you to maintain optimal nutrition wherever your training takes you.

Drag Racing Champion Antron Brown Uses CrossFit to Stay Fit Physically and Mentally
Drag racing and CrossFit might not sound like a match — but for Antron Brown, four-time NHRA drag racing champion, the two complement each other perfectly.
Brown, 48, recently added CrossFit movement patterns to his training for drag racing and has seen incredible results in both his mental and physical game.
“[CrossFit] makes you endure it, where you start getting used to it, and when you start getting used to it, you start climbing and doing things that you never thought you could do again,” Brown told Morning Chalk Up in an interview.
Among his many accomplishments, Brown became the first African American driver in history to win an NHRA championship series back in 2012. He followed that up with additional series titles in 2015, 2016, and 2024.
He won six races in the 2024 season for AB Motorsports in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.
Brown told us that spectators might not realize the amount of fitness and core stability necBrown told us that spectators might not realize the amount of fitness and core stability necessary for drag racing since races are typically held on a short, straight track and last only a few seconds.
“Fitness for us that plays a big dividend is our core. Our core is a big part of it, and also, like our fast twitch muscles, and not so much with the hands, but with your feet,” Brown said.
Brown was recently introduced to CrossFit movements by his trainer and is now incorporating Tabata-style training into his workouts.
