Inside The Fittest Experience Invitational: Predictions, Leaderboard, and How to Watch

The Fittest Experience Invitational, the fifth of 10 IPQEs, is set for this weekend, May 16-18, in Oklahoma City, OK.

  • Two more men and two more women will join the list of athletes headed to compete at the CrossFit Games in Albany, New York, this August.

While The Fittest Experience (TFX) has a long history, having hosted its inaugural event in 2008, this is the first time it serves as a qualifier for the Games.

Like Syndicate Crown and Brazil’s Copa Sur, TFX is one of the regional qualifiers, as only athletes residing in the former North America West region are eligible to compete.

  • This was not true for the Mayhem Classic or the upcoming NorCal Classic.

How to watch: The Fittest Experience will feature a live stream this weekend, with commentary, analysis, and interviews by Chase Ingraham, Lauren Kalil, and Angelo DiCicco, along with Lauren Smith, who is fresh from WFP Tour Event I.

Make the Most of Murph – How to Prep, Fuel, and Recover for the Famous Hero WOD

Credit: @welcome_to_the_mill / Instagram

The Memorial Day “Murph” is more than just a grueling workout – it’s a powerful tradition.

Every year, CrossFit athletes across the country honor Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy by completing “Murph”: a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another 1-mile run – all while wearing a weighted vest (or not; it’s the athlete’s choice).

  • Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, Murph is as much a mental challenge as it is physical, and how you fuel before, during, and after can make or break your performance and recovery, especially with the heat in late May.

In this article, we’ll discuss how to adjust your nutrition in the days before Murph so your body is ready to perform, how to optimize your hydration and fueling on workout day, and what to eat post-Murph to maximize recovery. We’ll also offer strategies for managing the heat and tips for athletes of all levels!

COMPETITIONS

Why It’s a Big Deal That Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr Will Compete at Torian Pro

Credit: Carlos Fluery, @carlitosfleury / Instagram

The Torian Pro has become synonymous with hosting Australia’s top CrossFit athletes for the last ten seasons.

  • However, Oceania fans have had the chance to see the seven-time Fittest Woman on Earth, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, compete at home only twice at the Torian Pro, including once at the inaugural competition in 2015, when it was a small grassroots event. She won.

Since 2018, Toomey-Orr has not competed much in Australia. She traveled to Brisbane for the 2019 Torian Pro but did not compete.

Thus, Toomey-Orr's announcement that she will compete at the Torian Pro at the end of May is a significant event for the Australian community.

  • “In May, I’m taking the floor at Torian Pro, but this time, it’s different. This time, it’s my moment to say goodbye to this chapter. This sport has given me everything, every challenge, every triumph, and, most importantly, the incredible community that surrounds it,” Toomey-Orr said in a YouTube video in April.

Whether she is retiring or not remains somewhat unclear. However, if her days in the sport are indeed numbered, Australian fans will have the rare opportunity to watch her live at home this month.
