“Not a Retirement Post” – Cole Sager Opens Up About Leaving the CrossFit Games
CrossFit Games veteran Cole Sager won’t participate in the 2025 Games season.
Sager, 34, announced the news in a video on his Instagram page, where he quickly pivoted to say, “This isn’t a retirement post.”
It’s just a formal announcement that he won’t be participating in the CrossFit Games season, potentially leaving the door open for other competitions.
“This is more like a ‘I’ll see you around' post.’ I’m not done with athletics; I’m just done with the CrossFit Games,” said Sager in his post.
Sager is one of the only athletes to amass more than 10 Games appearances (he has 11).
He has never been on the podium but has demonstrated impeccable resilience and a tremendous love for the sport.
In his post, Sager clarifies that his decision not to participate has nothing to do with CrossFit HQ or the 2024 CrossFit Games.

Mat Fraser’s HWPO Training Announces HYROX Partnership
HWPO Training, the fitness brand and training platform led by five-time CrossFit Games champion Mat Fraser, is entering the HYROX fitness racing trend.
The company announced on Tuesday that it will partner with HYROX through a digital collaboration. Simultaneously, Fraser posted a video on Instagram announcing he’s got another HYROX race on the books for the fall and he’ll be training “for real” this time.
Remind me: The worlds of CrossFit and HYROX continue to coexist; however, a trend has emerged in which traditionally CrossFit-focused training camps and fitness brands are incorporating HYROX into their offerings.
PRVN Fitness, co-founded by Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Shane Orr, is one of the most notable brands recently to invest in HYROX, following closely on the heels of John Singleton’s The Progrm.
HWPO Training did not disclose any further details about the partnership but expressed enthusiasm surrounding the fitness race that is taking over the U.S.
“I did my first race a couple of months ago, and I can’t wait to do the next one, but this time we're bringing the whole community of hard workers with us, so stay tuned,” said Fraser in a social media post announcing the partnership.
