INDUSTRY
Wodapalooza Rebrands, Partners with Gymreapers for 2026
In 2012, Guido Trinidad and Steve Suarez hosted the first Wodapalooza event in Miami, Florida.
What started with 145 athletes and only 500 spectators has grown into the fitness festival it is today, featuring nearly 50 divisions, with 2,000 athletes competing and over 40,000 fans and spectators in attendance.
Remind me: Over the years, Wodapalooza has made significant changes to its growing and successful brand. In 2022, it partnered with the shoe and apparel company TYR, which became its title sponsor and rebranded the event as “TYR Wodapalooza.”
Last year, the event team moved the competition from Miami to Miami Beach and added an extra fitness festival in Huntington Beach, California. In September 2024, the first annual TYR Wodapalooza SoCal was born.
The second iteration of the California event concluded just a few weeks ago.
The details: Wodapalooza has taken another step forward recently, sharing that a new ownership group has taken over.
The group is made up of several individuals who have “been part of the CrossFit community for more than 15 years, competing on Wodapalooza’s stage, training in affiliates, and living the lifestyle from the inside out. Their deep connection to the sport, methodology, and community reflects a shared passion for protecting WZA’s roots while helping it grow stronger for years to come,” according to a press release shared with Morning Chalk Up.

Why Affiliate Owners Need an Exit Strategy Long Before They Are Looking to Exit
We've had this conversation more often than we're comfortable with.
An affiliate owner reaches out to us about selling their business. They've been working hard for over 15 years and are now ready to step back. They have a price in mind – perhaps $500,000 or $1 million.
Then we have to deliver the harsh truth: what they believe their business is worth and what a buyer will actually pay are two very different figures.
That conversation is brutal.
And it's entirely preventable if you begin considering your exit strategy today – even if retirement is ten years away.
POLL
🚨 What is your gym pet peeve? Be honest. |
Last week, we asked: 🤢 What’s your least favorite CrossFit movement?

There was a pretty even spread in our “least favorite movement” poll, but thrusters definitely came out on top. In the comments, you added devil’s presses, squat snatches, DB overhead squats, and running to our list.
HYROX
HYROX and PUMA Lock In Partnership Through 2030
Global fitness company PUMA plans to extend its partnership with HYROX for at least five more years.
The fitness race has continued to grow in popularity over the past few years, with more than 1.3 million racers expected in the 2025/26 season.
The HYROX race, which includes eight kilometers of running and eight different functional fitness stations, has become a phenomenon within the fitness industry.
Early on, PUMA partnered with HYROX, evolving from a simple collaboration in 2017 to becoming HYROX's global partner in 2023 and the title sponsor for the HYROX World Championships.
“Since then, PUMA has used the partnership as a successful platform to increase brand awareness with the sport’s many passionate participants and provides performance products that are tailored to the needs of the athletes,” PUMA wrote in a press release on Wednesday.
The partnership is set to last until 2030, according to PUMA.
