CrossFit Open Gets Longer Submission Window, Games Field Grows for 2027

The 2027 CrossFit Games season will follow a format similar to last year's, with a few minor changes across the competition stages.

CrossFit LLC announced the season structure this week and shared updates for individuals, teams, and age-group divisions. The CrossFit Games date and location remain undetermined.

The biggest change affecting the entire community is an extended submission window for the CrossFit Open workouts. In past years, athletes who signed up for the Open could submit scores from Thursday (typically after a live announcement) through Monday.

For 2027, CrossFit will announce the Open workouts on Wednesdays, and athletes have until Monday at 5 p.m. PT to submit their scores.

  • Registration opens on January 7, 2027

  • Open Workout 27.1: February 17-22, 2027

  • Open Workout 27.2: February 24-March 1, 2027

  • Open Workout 27.3: March 3-8, 2027

Quarterfinals are the same as last season. The top 25% of individuals worldwide will advance from the Open to the Quarterfinals. The window is March 15-22.

5 Noteworthy Rogue Invitational Performances

Credit: Seth Morrison

Lucy Campbell and Dallin Pepper might have been the biggest stories of the 2026 Rogue Invitational in Aberdeen, Scotland, taking the titles and the $234,796.34 cash prize, but breakout moments and comebacks made for plenty of other notable performances over the weekend that deserve a share of the spotlight.

Here are five of them.

Gabi Migala on the Podium

Nobody was sure what to expect from Gabi Migala at P&J Live in Aberdeen.

The last time we saw her compete at Rogue was in 2024, the year she tore her Achilles during The Duel IV and withdrew from the competition.

Then came another setback. A few months later, she re-ruptured the same surgically repaired Achilles, and her rehabilitation was back to square one.

A year later, the six-time CrossFit Games veteran was back in action and looked as fit as ever. She won the 2026 MAD Fitness Festival and earned her seventh invite to the CrossFit Games.

But something wasn’t right. The joy was gone, and two weeks before the Games last July, Migala withdrew.

  • “It was the most challenging time I had since I started my career. Because I feel it’s so hard not to compare yourself to the version of you before the injury. And I’m not going to lie – I think I was quite fit when this happened,” Migala told The Morning Chalk Up at the time.
