QUOTE OF THE DAY

Kerrie’s a fighter. We joke that she has Viking blood in her. I also firmly believe that CrossFit, and how strong she is, will help her recover faster.”

In late December 2025, Chandler Smith shared an in-depth reflection on his past year on Instagram. He delved into the details of his competitions, mindset, goals, competitors, and limitations. It offered a glimpse into a brilliant and thoughtful mind, a perspective rarely shared, or at least rarely articulated so well.

In the final slide of the carousel, Smith shared his goals for the 2026 season – a range of aspirations that would take him from ATHX to HYROX, to Gymreapers Wodapalooza and World Fitness Project, with some lifts and benchmarks along the way. Smith’s ideal 2026 was that of a true hybrid athlete - building his own unique season, filled with personal challenges.

Here were a few of the items on his list:

  • “Either defend the ATHX Individual title and finish top-15 in the WFP, or go top-10 for WFP and win ATHX Mixed with Same Sex Doubles. Qualify for Rogue Invitational. Qualify for HYROX Worlds with Jessi. Win Wodapalooza team of 3. Have a top-half finish in a swim workout,” Smith wrote.

SKOL CrossFit Owner in Critical Condition After Accident in Mexico

Credit: Mark Roberts

Two weeks ago, while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, affiliate owner Kerrie Olsen was in a serious golf cart accident that left her with a severe traumatic brain injury and life-threatening internal bleeding.

Olsen, the owner of SKOL CrossFit in Riverton, UT, was rushed to the hospital, underwent emergency surgery, and was put in the ICU on a ventilator in a medically induced coma.

On Wednesday, she was flown back home and was admitted to a local hospital.

Though the extent of her injuries isn’t yet clear, Sicily Romano, a coach at Olsen’s gym, told The Morning Chalk Up that earlier this week, Olsen started showing signs of brain activity when she heard voices she knows.

  • “She has started to move her left arm, so they are hopeful of no paralysis, but until they can fully remove her from sedation, we won’t really know the extent of the damage,” Romano said.
