We enter the final day of the 2026 CrossFit Games with James Sprague, Aimee Cringle, and CrossFit Mayhem on top, but with four events left for the teams and three for the individuals, there’s still a long way to go.

  • Saturday dawned with cool breezes, clear, bright skies, and blazing fast sprints up and down Barack Obama Blvd., as the individuals took on a 500m run event to start the day.

Aimee Cringle started out a day that would see her lead grow with every event, with a dominant win. On the men’s side, fans expected excitement and got it in the form of a neck-and-neck race between Ricky Garard and Gui Malheiros, which the Aussie won.

What they’re saying:

  • “Amazing event with everyone up the sidelines on the sides of the street; it’s like drag racing but on foot, not in a car.” — Rick Garard after winning “IE13: 500 Run.”

  • “Hang on to your hat. It’s going to be a long ride.” — ten-time CrossFit Games veteran, Pat Vellner on what he would tell 2016 Pat about his future Games career.

  • “I’m a home run hitter, and unfortunately for me, that comes with a few strike-outs. But I knew that coming into it, and I’m just really excited I got to execute on my favorite event so far.” — Hannah Black during her post-event-win interview following “IE 15: 2020 Snatch Speed Ladder.”

One big number:

1 — The number of 2026 CrossFit Games event wins that current men’s leader James Sprague has so far this week. (Trivia time: During the 10th anniversary of the Games in 2016, winner Mat Fraser only placed first in one event, the “Ranch Trail Run.”)

INOV8’s Service Centre at the CrossFit Games

This year at The CrossFit Games in San Jose, INOV8 did something different. Instead of a traditional vendor booth, they opened the NaturalFit™ Service Centre at The Playground by HiitSchool, a space inspired by the building's past life as an auto service center. The idea: just like you'd bring your car in for a performance service, they invited fans and athletes alike to bring their feet in for one.

Over 200 visitors got a complimentary NaturalFit Service: a proper fitting into INOV8 shoes built with a foot-shaped fit and wide toe box, giving toes room to spread and move naturally. No pitch, just a chance to feel the difference for themselves, then put it to the test in the open gym before a day of watching the world's fittest athletes compete.

3 Big Storylines from Sunday at the 20th CrossFit Games

Credit: Scott Freymond

Saturday at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA, delivered a handful of dominant performances on the women’s side and an exciting four-way battle atop the men's leaderboard.

With one day to go, Aimee Cringle leads the women’s field by 116 points, while Sprague leads the men, 29 points ahead of Dallin Pepper.

Here are the three biggest storylines from an action-packed day at the SAP Center.

Sheer Domination for Cringle

Saturday’s first event, the 500-meter run, simple as it was, has to be considered one of the most grueling tests of the weekend, especially when it comes to lactic acid and lung burn. And in some ways, it was also one of the most challenging to gauge, as it’s not a common distance any athletes practice.

  • But women’s leader Aimee Cringle made it look like it’s something she trains all the time, as if she had a master pacing plan and executed it flawlessly.

She let Maddie Sturt take the early lead on the first straightaway, but Cringle stayed close behind and made her move, passing Sturt on the first turn, but Sturt wasn’t too far behind.

Cringle, though, was just waiting to kick it into another gear. On the final straightaway, she pulled away and cruised to her fourth win in the event.

She followed this up with an even more dominant performance on event 14.
