What is ErgShoot? Learn About the Precision Test That Made Waves at the 2025 TYR Cup?

In a sport known for heavy barbells, muscle-ups, and handstand push-ups, you don’t usually expect to see athletes handling pistols. But at the recent TYR Cup at TYR Wodapalooza SoCal in Huntington Beach, CA, that’s exactly what happened.

One of last weekend’s most talked-about events wasn’t a max lift or an endurance test; it was an event that combined the SkiErg with a handstand walk slalom course and shooting a pistol.

  • More specifically, athletes used an ErgShoot laser precision pistol, the same technology employed in the biathlon event at the Olympic Games, explained Kyle Rolfe, one of ErgShoot’s founders and husband and coach to 2024 Third Fittest Woman, Emily Rolfe.

Worth noting: The concept of shooting in a CrossFit-style competition might seem unusual, but it’s not entirely unheard of.

  • ErgShoot first appeared earlier this year at the French Throwdown, one of Europe’s biggest CrossFit events, and in 2019, the Rogue Invitational featured a similar setup using air rifles.

Continue reading to see how the TYR Cup athletes handled the pressure when the clock started, plus, what’s next for ErgShoot and how the event and technology came together.

The Lifer Methodology: How to Transform Your Affiliate Into a Community That People Never Want to Leave

Most affiliate owners obsess over lead generation, conversion rates, and front-end sales metrics.

But ask them about their retention strategy? Silence.

  • They'll eagerly brag about how many new members they signed up last month, while completely ignoring the high turnover that follows.

Here's the brutal truth: if your churn rate exceeds five percent, you're trapped in an unsustainable cycle that will eventually ruin your business.

The secret isn't just signing up more people – it's creating what I call "lifers."

Why Standards Matter in CrossFit

CrossFit's movement, nutrition, and intensity standards aren’t arbitrary — they exist to balance safety, efficacy, and efficiency. Nailing technique, embracing variety, and pushing threshold properly are what separate programs that deliver results from those that crash and burn.

Scotland Gym to Hold Million-Meter Challenge for Charity

CrossFit Lùths is hosting an ambitious charity workout this weekend to benefit an organization close that has played a vital role in helping a long-time member's family.

The gym in Gorebridge, Scotland, is hosting the event from Friday, September 26, to Saturday, September 27, to support Crossbasket House at the Glasgow Children’s Hospital.

  • Beloved CF Lùths community member Nathan Nicholas and his family have depended on Crossbasket House during his son’s challenging medical diagnosis.

In May 2025, Nathan and his wife Allison’s lives changed forever when their third child, Caleb, was born with a congenital heart condition. Nicholas has been a member at the gym since 2019.

  • “His diagnosis was a Double Inlet Single Left Ventricle, a transposition of the great arteries and a narrowing of the aorta arch,” said Nathan in a video posted on CrossFit Lùths' Instagram.
