At the 20th anniversary edition of the CrossFit Games, fans were treated to neck-and-neck races all weekend long as tight leaderboards in all three divisions pushed athletes to go for broke every time on the floor.

  • Stay tuned this week as the Morning Chalk Up breaks down all the action from San Jose, CA, this weekend. We will continue to cover all the major events from the 2026 CrossFit Games, both on and off the competition floor.

Reactions from Sunday:

ā€œIt doesn’t feel real; it’s a shock to me as well…I just appreciate every one of you, all the messages, all the support and cheering; thank you.ā€

  • Aimee Cringle, after being crowned the 2026 Fittest Woman on Earth, on the heels of her dominant performance all week, highlighted by five event wins.

ā€œTake no days for granted; every day, to be able to train is a gift.ā€

  • James Sprague, on the mindset changes he made to find his way back to the top of the podium in 2026.

One big number:

Aimee Cringle and James Sprague are the 2026 CrossFit Games champions. But their paths to get there looked quite different.

Cringle showed Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr-like dominance all weekend, and while Sprague also led pretty much the whole way, the race for the top spot on the men’s side was far more fiercely contested.

  • ā€œIt doesn't feel real. It’s a shock to me,ā€ said a soft-spoken and humble Cringle in an on-floor interview after her win.

Cringle’s Journey to the Top

Over the weekend, Cringle logged five event wins, including three on Day 1.

Her first win came in the second event of the weekend, the 7,200-meter run. A couple of hours later, she added a second win in an event that couldn’t be more different: the one-rep max deadlift (425 pounds).

  • She picked up her third win that evening in the Grass Track Race, a 20-lap bike race.

Cringle’s two most impressive wins arguably came on Saturday during the 500-meter run, when she showed finishing speed on the final straightaway that no competitor could match. Shortly after that win, Cringle delivered one of the weekend’s most dominant performances in Event 14.
