Why You Shouldn't Skip Wall Walks
Wall walks were introduced to the CrossFit Open in 2021, and whether you love them or dread them, they’re the foundation for handstand walking and a key step to becoming proficient at inversions.
So let’s slow down and really look at them:
Why should you actually want to get better at wall walks?
Why do they feel so challenging?
And if you do improve them, what’s the next step in your handstand journey?
Why Should You Want to Get Better at Wall Walks?
A lot of athletes write wall walks off as a “party trick”—something for warm-ups or for CrossFit to toss into workouts when they need another skill. But they’re much more than that.
If you want to understand inversion, build confidence upside down, and eventually handstand walk, you start by mastering the basics of the wall walk.
