QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Just remember at those moments when things are tough and you feel alone out there on the floor. When you see only one set of footprints in the sand… those are the moments you’re carrying him. Keep your backs strong. He’s not light.” - TYR Cup Team North America, Pat Vellner trashing talking his pal, Brent Fikowski, by warning Team World what to expect from him as a teammate.

TYR Wodapalooza SoCal — TYR Cup: Roster Breakdown

The official 2024 CrossFit Games individual season may be over, but the major offseason competitions are about ready to kick off, with TYR Wodapalooza SoCal leading the charge.

The inaugural multi-day competition takes place in Huntington Beach, CA, from September 20-23. It will host community events and an exhibition called the TYR Cup, which will feature two teams of eight elite athletes going up against each other.

Remind me: The TYR Cup takes center stage at TYR Wodapalooza SoCal, featuring a new team format, with rosters made up of some of the best CrossFit athletes in the world.

  • We saw a version of this exhibition-style team competition at the UK’s FitFest last season, where two teams of four squared off for bragging rights.

The TYR Cup, however, is putting quite a bit of money on the line, so while this competition will be a spectator experience, it won’t be all fun and games for the athletes.

  • The prize purse totals $210,000, with the winning team taking home $160,000 ($20,000 each) and the runner-up team taking home $40,000 ($5,000 each). The MVP will also receive a $10,000 prize.

This head-to-head style competition features two teams: “World” and “North America.”

The full rosters for both teams have been announced, so let’s see who will be competing in a few weeks.

If you’ve tried and tried again to simplify your meal prep but have constantly failed or feel like you can’t repeat it every week — we’ve got a solution for you.

Check out this five-step approach to making your meal prep seamless:

Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir’s Dottir Skin Brand Releases “Effective, Safe, and Transparent Sunscreen”

CrossFit Games veterans Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir used to complain to each other about not being able to find a quality sunscreen that worked for their skin.

  • “I went to see a skin doctor in Iceland to see what would be best for my skin, and she said, ‘Of course, you are already using sunscreen on your face every day.’ And I had to admit I did not,” Thorisdottir, a two-time CrossFit Games champion, said.

Part of the reason Thorisdottir avoided wearing sunscreen was simply because she didn’t think she needed to. Another reason was that it would burn her eyes if she began to sweat, which is even more uncomfortable when you spend so much time competing outdoors.

  • As a result, she’d often risk the chance of getting sunburn rather than feeling that stinging in her eyes.

Three years ago, she and Davidsdottir decided to take matters into their own hands by creating a new sunscreen line through their company, Dottir. The product finally launched in August 2024 under the brand Dottir Skin

The sunscreen sold out in Iceland within 45 minutes of the launch but has already been restocked.
