By the Numbers: 9 Intriguing Stats From the 2024 Crossfit Games Quarterfinals

With the 2024 CrossFit Quarterfinals wrapped up and the leaderboards finalized, we are looking back at some compelling numbers before we move on.

Some of these stats may surprise you, but as Jay-Z said, “Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.” So before the Individuals and Teams Semifinals start May 16 in Asia and Europe, take a look at our favorite Quarterfinals stats below:

1) 14,270 – The total number of pounds lifted by Jeff Adler in Individual Workout 4.

  • Adler won the workout worldwide for the men with a score of 66 reps, notching the victory by three reps (or 735 pounds) over Jack Rozema.

  • On the women’s side, Olivia Kerstetter and Dani Speegle both completed 72 reps for a total of 10,580 pounds. Kerstetter took the top spot on the leaderboard, carding a tiebreak time six seconds faster than Speegle.

Sam Dancer’s 2024 Quest: Be the Oldest Man at the CrossFit Games

CrossFit newbies may not know much about Sam Dancer.

  • Dancer is one of the most unique characters in the sport – a colorful, kind, beast of a man with tree trunk quads, a teddy-bear heart, and a 10,000-watt smile – equally as likely to be pulling 600 pounds off the ground as he is to be blowing bubbles and rolling in the grass with his daughter, Star.

A former college football player, Dancer burst onto the scene in 2015 when he took tenth in the Central region.

Emboldened by the experience and wanting more, Dancer worked on his weaknesses and returned the following year to qualify in the same region and head to the 2016 CrossFit Games in Carson.

He finished 32nd.

Dancer has competed as an Individual, on a Team, and in the Age Group divisions at the CrossFit Games – he took home first place in the 35-39 Men’s division in 2023.

But now he has a new goal – become the oldest athlete to qualify as an Individual for the CrossFit Games.
