QUOTE OF THE DAY

Get to Know CrossFit's 2024 Games Demo Team

Earlier this week, the CrossFit Games revealed the 2024 Demo Team.

An annual summer ritual, sometimes a few days before and sometimes a few weeks before the start of Games week, CrossFit reveals “a team of experienced CrossFit athletes…selected to demonstrate each event at the CrossFit Games to the field of athletes.”

  • The group of six (sometimes more or less) will test workouts before (and during) the Games to give Castro and the Games organizers a realistic run-through at full speed.

  • For example, when rain delayed 2022’s “Alpaca” event, it was the Demo Team who came out to the field to test equipment and help determine the next steps (which ultimately involved removing the rope climbs).

The 18th CrossFit Games will take place August 8-11 at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX, for the first time in the event’s history.

2024 Demo Team Members

Scott Tetlow (Team Captain) – Tetlow qualified for the Games in 2020, placing 17th in the two-part, COVID-affected finals. He has also competed at Semifinals in 2021, 2022, and 2023. At the 2022 Rogue Invitational, he also placed 17th.

Do Hard Things: 6 Lessons from “Superhero Summer,” So Far

We often hear people use the phrase “Do Hard Things” as a motivating factor to encourage us out of our comfort zone and to push ourselves to a greater limit.

What if that slogan could mean so much more?

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been sharing my perspective on dealing with hard times and adversity.

We all deal with these issues from time to time.

Some situations are more difficult than others, but ultimately, part of the human experience is dealing with strife.

I only joined CrossFit over a decade ago to get fit.

I didn’t anticipate the other areas it would affect and certainly didn’t realize it would prepare me for some of the hardest moments in my life.

What is unique to CrossFit is the component of shared suffering in a group setting that no other methodology experiences outside of maybe military and first responders.

This is the aspect of CrossFit that creates truly special moments where life lessons are learned.

In this “shared suffering,” I have come to find that in pushing myself to the extreme limits of my endurance, both physically and mentally, the harder parts of my life seem more manageable.

  • Because of this, I do Hero WODs and Benchmark workouts as often as my body allows.
