Final Games Spots Up for Grabs in the LCQ, Who Will Get Them?

Who Will Snag the Final CrossFit Games Spots at this Weekend’s Last Chance Qualifier?

The Last Chance Qualifier begins this Friday, and the formula is simple: Win and you’re in.

  • At the end of this weekend’s online LCQ, the top man and top woman will earn the final two invites to this summer’s CrossFit Games in Albany, NY, finalizing the 30-athlete rosters.

Check out who has qualified for the Games so far here.

Remind me: The top 50 athletes from the In-Affiliate Semifinals who have not yet qualified for the CrossFit Games, along with the top 10 non-Games qualifying athletes from the 10 In-Person Qualifying Events, are eligible to compete in the LCQ.

Athletes will have five days to complete five workouts at an affiliate in good standing, with both a head judge and a floor judge overseeing their workouts. They will then need to submit their scores in the Hustle Up app and upload all their workout videos to YouTube.

  • Note: The Hustle Up app leaderboard is still populating as athletes register and will remain open until Saturday, June 1, at 11:00 p.m. PDT.

However, the LCQ will not follow the same public video review process as the In-Affiliate Semifinals, Dave Castro explained on his Week in Review on YouTube on Monday.

  • “[Hustle Up] is going to have their own standards, and they’re going to have their own way of running it. We have been giving them a little advice and guidance, but it is not adhering to our standards for execution,” Castro said.

Here’s who we think could come out on top this weekend.

Is Fitness a Dating Dealbreaker?

Credit: @benbergeron / Instagram

A listener named Joe recently wrote to the Chasing Excellence podcast with a dilemma many health-conscious singles face.

As a fitness-focused bachelor in his early forties, Joe finds himself drawn to women who prioritize health and fitness. However, his friends have accused him of using this as a justification to exclude women who don't fit society's standard of attractiveness.

  • His question: "Is it acceptable to use health and fitness priorities as a filter when dating?"

Here's our perspective on why your “fitness values” are important when searching for the right partner.

From a DIY Jump Rope to Official CrossFit, WFP, and HYROX Partner: The Velites Story

Credit: @velitessport / Instagram

One year ago, the name Velites was largely unfamiliar to the North American CrossFit and functional fitness community.

However, in recent months, the Spanish company, known for its jump ropes and grips – and now apparel and shoes – has made significant strides not only within the CrossFit space but also in the World Fitness Project and HYROX communities.

As a result, they are quickly becoming a household name.

Remind me: Velites is not only the official apparel and footwear partner for the 2025 CrossFit Games season; they are also the official partner for jump ropes, hand grips, and wristbands for the 2025 WFP season.

Additionally, Velites is a leading HYROX gear partner, a particularly important partnership given HYROX's current growth trends.

  • More than 600,000 people registered to compete in HYROX events in 2025, and this number is projected to double next year. Ultimately, the HYROX community includes tens of thousands of athletes worldwide, all of whom need fitness gear, apparel, and training shoes.

Although it may appear that Velites emerged from nowhere this year, they have been part of the European CrossFit community for 10 years, spreading their influence over a considerable period.
