CrossFit HQ Delivers Safety Updates Ahead of 2025 CrossFit Games

Just one week from now, athletes will travel to Albany, NY, for the 2025 CrossFit Games. After a tragic incident last year, all eyes are on CrossFit HQ to deliver on the promises made following Lazar Ðukić’s death.

CrossFit HQ released a statement on Wednesday, providing updates on its commitment to “high safety standards” at the Games and explaining how it plans to maintain those standards not only during the Games but throughout the sport in the future.

One big thing: The statement includes both a recap of CrossFit’s actions throughout the year and a few new measures that will be implemented at the 2025 CrossFit Games.

  • “With the 2025 CrossFit Games just ahead, we’re providing an update on the continued improvement we’ve made concerning those commitments, and how they’ll be implemented,” CrossFit HQ wrote in the emailed press release.

Read on for our key takeaways and why CrossFit’s statement matters as athletes and fans prepare for Albany.

Fuel Smarter: 3 Common Nutrition Mistakes (and How to Fix Them)

Credit: @ctpcam / Instagram

Whether you're training for your next marathon, rowing event, or long-distance triathlon, one thing is clear: fueling your body correctly is just as essential as the training itself.

As a coach, athlete, and nutrition consultant, I’ve worked with dozens of endurance athletes – and again and again, I see the same nutrition mistakes holding them back.

  • These aren’t fringe errors or one-off blunders. These are consistent habits that can affect recovery, energy, performance, and even long-term health.

If you’ve been hitting a plateau, feeling sluggish during long sessions, or constantly catching yourself thinking, “I train so hard—why don’t I feel better?”... this article is for you.

Let’s break down the top three mistakes I see endurance athletes make with their nutrition and what to do instead.

POLL

What’s your favorite “non-fitness” thing about CrossFit? 💬

Login or Subscribe to participate in polls.

Last week we asked: What is the biggest roadblock you face in trying to make progress in the gym?

  • 🕒 Not enough time to train (21.7%)

  • 🛌 Inconsistent recovery (27.7%)

  • 🍕 Dialing in your nutrition (35.6%)

  • 🧠 Mindset/willpower (2.9%)

  • 📉 No clear goal or plan (11.8%)

Nutrition issues received the most votes in last week’s poll, with “inconsistent recovery” a close second. If you are part of the second group, you’re in luck — Tracy Tucker’s article today, on the most common nutrition mistakes endurance athletes make and how to fix them, offers helpful tips for improving your fueling habits and preventing under-eating.

How Much Does it Cost to Chase the CrossFit Games Dream?

Credit: Jesus Montero

Ask any athlete aiming to qualify for the CrossFit Games, and they'll tell you it’s not an easy life.

  • Their training and competition highlight reels might make it look sexy, but what they don't show us is the financial grind that continues after their training sessions.

For most aspiring Games athletes, the dream comes with a steep price, forcing them to work part-time, juggle coaching gigs, and live off protein powder deals while training like pros but without the paycheck.

So what’s the actual financial reality of chasing that Games ticket as you climb through the ranks?

Hannah Black broke it down for us.
