Despite Exciting Show, CrossFit Open 25.3 Livestream Views Plummet
Now that the 2025 CrossFit Open live announcements are over, we can see the complete picture of the livestream numbers and spot the trends.
CrossFit Spur hosted the announcement of 25.3 in Glenmont, NY, near the site of the 2025 Games.
The event featured the 2024 Games' first, second, and fourth-place finishers. James Sprague, Dallin Pepper, and Jayson Hopper battled it out with a guest athlete alongside them.
The NFL’s Tyson Bagent, backup quarterback for the Chicago Bears and longtime CrossFitter, joined in on the fun.
One big thing: The maximum concurrent views (how many people were watching at once) for 25.3 were down substantially from 25.2, and came in lower than any of the Open announcements in the last three years.
The details: The 25.3 announcement recorded a maximum concurrent viewership of 84,555.
Viewership usually peaks during the workout's unveiling, but it spiked this time as the three elite athletes raced to the finish on the rower.
The max concurrent average for the 2022 Open was 96,048; in 2023, it was 120,872. It rose to 159,980 in 2024. The 2025 Open clocked in at 114,889.
The total views (24 hours) per week average for the 2024 Open was 912,656. That was up from 619,224 in 2023. Total views (after 24 hours) for 25.3 came in at 524,056. That’s a difference of 506,220 views from last year. The average 24-hour total views per week during the 2025 Open was 610,956.

CrossFit CEO Don Faul Addresses Sale Rumors, Concerns in Affiliate Town Hall Meeting
CrossFit LLC CEO Don Faul dispelled rumors and concerns about the company's sale during a call with affiliates on Thursday, only one day after he announced it was seeking new ownership.
Remind me: On Wednesday, CrossFit LLC emailed affiliates to announce that it is for sale and actively seeking buyers.
Faul told affiliates the process would take time and that CrossFit is working with Moelis & Company, “a global independent investment bank providing confidential, unconflicted, strategic advice,” to help review a wide range of potential buyers.
Faul hosted a town hall meeting for affiliates on Thursday to discuss the announcement further and share where the company is in the process currently.
“We are working with Moelis [& Company] to gather information and prepare materials that we'll use in the sale process, and the intent being to help them understand our business, to help them understand CrossFit, to help them understand what makes CrossFit special,” said Faul during the call.
The next step will be to find prospective buyers and narrow it down to the best potential buyers possible, added Faul.
