2024 CrossFit Games Day 4 Lay of the Land
After an emotional week, the 2024 CrossFit Games come to an end today in Fort Worth, TX. But before that happens, individual and team athletes will take on the final two events of the Games season and crown the men’s, women’s, and team champions.
Events today will begin at 9:00 a.m. CDT with the teams taking the floor first, followed by the individuals at 10:10 a.m. All event details remain unknown at publication time.
Roster cuts — The top 30 men, 30 women, and 20 teams will advance to today's final events of the 2024 CrossFit Games.
Reactions from Saturday:
Following their Event 4 win, Peak 360 CrossFit team captain and 10-time individual Games athlete Noah Ohlsen shared his and his team’s thoughts on the week as Matilde Garnes looked on sobbing:
“Everybody, I think, is experiencing the same roller coaster of emotions for the last few days. It comes in waves, it bubbles up, there’s a lot of sadness…We’re just doing the best we can, we are just thinking about Lazar and the Ðukić family in everything that we do…Hopefully, as a community, we can heal together.”
Australian CrossFit Games veteran and outspoken proponent of mental health awareness, Khan Porter, summed up some of his and team Raw Iron CrossFit Mayhem Thunder’s thoughts after their Event 5 win:
“What happened this weekend was a massive tragedy. And there’s no wrong way to deal with that. But the worst possible thing and the only thing that I think is categorically wrong is using a tragedy as an opportunity to attack someone else, based on how they’re dealing with this,” he said. “The reason the Games is still going is because of the community. Be a community.”
Canadian Brent Fikowski spoke from the heart following his “Push Pull 2.0” event win:
“I’m thinking about Lazar. It’s my job to compete, so I’m going to compete…but it’s really hard. He’s on our minds. He was a great friend. He was a great guy. You kind of keep seeing him everywhere…But I made a commitment to finish the competition. That’s what I do, and so I’m going to give it my best, but Lazar is on our minds.”
One big number:
21 — The number of athletes choosing not to continue competing through the weekend, including 13 individuals and two teams.
