Behind the Leaderboard — The Games Field So Far

POWERED BY

Good morning and welcome to the Morning Chalk Up.

In today’s edition:

  • Seventy percent of the Games field for Albany is set — meet the qualifiers so far.

  • “Bring a Friend Week” isn’t just an event; it’s a proven lead machine.

  • He nearly quit, but Moritz Fiebig is returning to the Games fitter than ever.

Just a quick note: We are spending Memorial Day with our families and affiliate communities. We’ll see you back here, bright and early on Tuesday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I grieved a lot, I went through some things since the 2024 Games…but I think in five years I would regret it if I didn’t compete.”

As the 2025 CrossFit Games season unfolds, we now know 42 of the 60 individual athletes (70 percent) who have earned tickets to Albany.

The In-Affiliate Semifinals leaderboard is finalized, and we’re halfway through the new IPQE format – five events have been completed, and five remain.

Remind me: The Games athlete field has been reduced from 40 men and 40 women to 30 each, and the qualification path is no longer linear.

For the last few seasons, the structure and flow were as follows: CrossFit Open—Quarterfinals—In-Person Semifinals—CrossFit Games.

The 2025 structure is: CrossFit Open – Select IPQEs – Online Semifinals – More IPQEs – Online LCQ – CrossFit Games.

Standout Stories

Siria Meha, an Albanian rookie, won the In-Affiliate Semifinals after a penalty dropped Arielle Loewen from first to third place.

  • Meha took home over $8,000 and turned many heads. We are excited to see her compete live in New York.

Colin Bosshard followed a top-12 Open finish with a 10th-place result in the In-Affiliate Semifinals to qualify. The 24-year-old’s stock is rising quickly. He is also the reigning iF3 World Champion.

  • So far, only two male rookies (Bosshard and Moreira) and six female rookies (Meha, Greer, von Rohr, Muir, McGonigle, and Marquez) have qualified.

“Bring a Friend Week” – A Proven Strategy to Boost Membership in Your CrossFit Affiliate

What if I told you there's a simple marketing strategy that has generated millions of dollars in recurring revenue for CrossFit affiliates worldwide?

  • After working with thousands of affiliate owners and testing numerous strategies, I can confidently say that “Bring a Friend Week” is the most effective organic lead generation tool we've ever implemented.

Why Most Referral Programs Fail

Let's be honest — most CrossFit affiliates struggle with referrals.

  • You might have a referral offer ("bring a friend, get $20 off your membership"), but without a consistent method to deliver that offer, you don't actually have a program.

He Almost Walked Away, Now Moritz Fiebig is Returning to the CrossFit Games

Credit: Lydia Stadtheower

After withdrawing midway through last summer’s CrossFit Games, Moritz Fiebig returned to Germany, unsure if he would ever return to the biggest competition in the sport.

Fiebig was, of course, grieving the loss of his fellow competitor and friend, Lazar Đukić, and considered quitting the sport.

Unsure of what to do, Fiebig continued to train, hoping to rediscover his passion for the sport. Throughout this process, he realized he had been “overfocused” on CrossFit, so he started seeking more balance in his life.

  • “I found some new friends. I hang out a lot more with friends, and people I just like, who aren’t linked to CrossFit,” he said of his life today.
