24.2 CrossFit Open Livestream Numbers Hit All-Time High

Inside Justin Medeiros’s home gym, the “Shred Shed,” WWE Heavyweight Champion and longtime CrossFitter Seth Rollins unveiled the 24.2 workout to the highest livestream numbers for a CrossFit Open announcement we’ve ever seen.

One big thing: Both maximum concurrent views (how many people were watching at once) and overall livestream views (after 24 hours) for 24.2 increased from last year. The total views after 24 hours for 24.2 surpassed the average views (after 24 hours) for all three announcements from 2023.

The details: The 24.2 announcement recorded a maximum concurrent viewership (unofficially) of 206,012 and a total view count (after 24 hours) of 835,042.

How does this compare?

  • The max concurrent average for the 2023 Open was 121,035, far below what we saw this week with 24.2. We typically see viewership increase each week of the Open, and 2024 is following that trend.

  • The total views per week average for the 2023 Open was 619,224, while total views (after 24 hours) for 24.2 came in at 835,042. A substantial difference of 215,818 views. However, this is lower than last week’s number of 872,651.

  • One thing to note: The max concurrent views of 24.2 were roughly 33,000 higher than 24.1, yet the total views after 24 hours were higher for week one of the 2024 Open.

Annie Thorisdottir, Katrin Davidsdottir Launch Program for Women in Menopause

Three years in the making, CrossFit Games champions and close friends Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir’s new training program—Empower by Dottir—launches today.

The details: Empower by Dottir is a partnership between Davidsdottir, Thorisdottir, and Dr. Stacy Sims, an exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist from Australia who specializes in women’s health. The program is a six-week introductory training course designed specifically for women going through perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause.

  • The program includes four weekly training sessions—three strength training sessions and one interval session—as well as optional recovery and breath work.

  • It also includes lectures and educational materials from Dr. Sims to help women understand what’s happening in their bodies during menopause and why they’re training this way.

Women going through the program will have access to a private Facebook page, where they can ask questions to Sims.

  • Finally, the program includes videos of all the movements, including the warm-ups to ensure everyone is going through the program correctly. “Let’s say you have [someone] that has never gone to the gym. I want her to feel like I’m literally holding her hands and helping her feel safe,” Thorisdottir told the Morning Chalk Up in an exclusive interview.

  • Although today is the program's hard launch, it has already been tested by dozens of women, including the 30 women who just participated in their soft launch, Thorisdtottir explained.

  • Thorisdottir’s husband, five-time CrossFit Games athlete Frederik Aegidius has also been heavily involved on the programming side of things. He’s gone “all in on knowing everything about menopause,” Thorisdtottir said, laughing.
