2025 TYR Wodapalooza — Final Wrap-Up

With the best weather of the weekend, the elite teams opened the day with “Race to the Top" at TYR Arena, before heading to the Reign Sandbox for "3334" and closing out back under the TYR Arena lights with "The Trio Triplet." Community members, including individuals, teams, adaptive, masters, and gauntlet athletes closed out their weekend earlier in the day.

  • The vibes were as high as the sun in the sky, and the action on the competition floor heated up fast.

By the time athletes lined up for the final event, both leaderboards had shifted dramatically and tightened up. On the women’s side, it was Relyte Salt Baes (Emily Rolfe, Arielle Loewen, and Abigail Domit) with 413 points ahead of Swedish House Mafia (Lena Richter, Emelie Lundberg, and Emma Tall) at 410, and YETI Outkasts (Shelby Neal, Emma Lawson, and Danielle Brandon) with 404.

  • In the men’s division, The Boys (Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer) held on to their lead with 479 points, but Mayhem Tres Leches (Gui Malheiros, Jorge Fernandez, and Saxon Panchik) were only six points back at 473.

When the dust settled, it was the YETI Outkasts and The Boys, who stood atop the podium.

One big number: 20 – The total number of synchro single-arm devil’s press + thrusters athletes had to complete to finish the interval-style workout, “3334.” Team GOWOD (Justin Medeiros, Jayson Hopper, and Willy Georges) were the only team in either division to finish it.

One last thing: That's a wrap on the 2025 TYR WZA and the “off-season” for this year (such that there is one any longer). It was another amazing weekend under the Miami sun (and clouds, and fog, and cool temps), featuring incredible performances. For the athletes who competed, it was a great chance to see where their fitness is at the start of the calendar year. Now we look ahead to a very hectic and full season.

James Sprague Cruises to Victory, Lucy Campbell Tops Horvath for 2025 TYR Wodapalooza Title

OK, James Sprague, we believe you. You’re that fit.

Sprague joined women’s surprise winner Lucy Campbell to become the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza champions in Miami, FL, on Friday.

Remind me: Sprague is the reigning CrossFit Games champion, but considering all that unfolded last summer — Lazar Dukic tragically died during the first event of the competition, and multiple top athletes withdrew from the competition as a result — there has since been a question of whether last year’s Games really counts. And whether Sprague is truly on par with past champions.

But this weekend in Miami, Sprague proved that he truly is that fit. He cruised to victory against a tough field, including three-time TYR WZA champion and five-time Games medalist Pat Vellner and reigning two-time TYR WZA champion Ricky Garard.

  • Rounding out the top three were Vellner in second and 2024 CrossFit Games rookie Austin Hatfield in third.

On the women’s side, it was Campbell — a 2022 CrossFit Games athlete from the UK who has been out of competition for the last two seasons due to a wrist injury that required multiple surgeries – who managed to oust the 2023 Fittest Woman on Earth and heavy favorite Laura Horvath to take the top spot.

  • Horvath finished second, five points behind Campbell, and Alexis Raptis finished third.

Sprague and Campbell’s journeys to the title couldn’t have been more different.

Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer, “The Boys,” Make History; Danielle Brandon, Emma Lawson, and Shelby Neal, “YETI Outkasts,” Crowned Champs at 2025 TYR Wodapalooza

Spectators got more than their money’s worth at Miami Beach on Sunday, as they witnessed exciting, down-to-the-wire races during both the men’s and women’s team competition at the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza.

  • Heading into the final event, only 12 points separated both the top four men’s teams and the top two women’s teams in what had been a back-and-forth battle all weekend.

But after 150 ping-pong wall balls, 75 synchro toes-to-bar, and a 150-foot worm lunge, it was The Boys (Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer) who reclaimed the title, their second career title together (the other being in 2022), while the YETI Outkasts (Danielle Brandon, Emma Lawson, and Shelby Neal) snagged the women’s title by just six points over Team NUSA (Astrid Tind, Mia Furu, and Frederikke Mollerup).

  • “For those that happened to tag each of us [on social media] and say that we were washed up and didn’t stand a chance up here, [the] top of the podium speaks for itself, so how about that?” Mayer said facetiously in a post-competition interview.

The Boys have become the first team in history to repeat as TYR Wodpalooza champions with all three of the same athletes.
