QUOTE OF THE DAY
“I don’t think we have ever put that out a month in advance, but just to give you some things to think about, or some intrigue, yeah, we will have an Open workout repeat.” - Dave Castro, Director of Sport, on his Week in Review from January 27.

Three Key Takeaways From Dave Castro’s Week in Review
In his Week In Review video posted on Monday, January 27, CrossFit LLC’s Director of Sport, Dave Castro, revealed some intriguing information about the upcoming 2025 CrossFit Games Open, which starts on February 27.
Three Key Takeaways
1. Castro Will Not Be Doing the Live Open Announcements
“Recently, I have been asked a lot on some of my affiliate trips and visits by affiliates if I’m going to do it. I have been asked internally if I’m going to do it,” Castro said.
After a long pause, he added, “I don’t feel like doing it this year.”
“I don’t want to…I decided that a few months ago,” he said.
2. If Not Castro, then Who?
After revealing he will not be announcing this year’s Open workouts, Castro threw this out there:
“You know what would be cool, is if we could get affiliates to do it this year.”
Castro then asked any interested affiliate owners to put together an “audition video” and tag him on social media, and he will select “at least one affiliate owner” to announce one Open workout.

The Diet Doom Loop: 4 Simple Keys to Breaking Free
Do you feel like you've been dieting for years with no progress? Stuck in a cycle of short-term restriction followed by weight regain?
You're not alone.
So many struggle to achieve sustainable weight loss, falling into what I call the "diet doom loop."
But there is hope. By focusing on four key factors, you can escape this frustrating cycle and reach your health, weight, and performance goals.
These aren't quick fixes or fad strategies, and none of them will make you popular on Instagram — but they are the tried-and-true habits my most successful clients have proven to be worthwhile time and again.
What may come as a surprise is that they aren’t all nutrition-focused.
And this is why successful dieters describe it as a “lifestyle” change. It’s a complete overhaul of factors that greatly influence nutrition success.
Consistent Movement
It may surprise you, but a regular exercise routine is about much more than burning calories.
While physical activity does contribute to a calorie deficit, the real magic is psychological.
Getting through a solid training session reinforces the belief that you are a healthy, active person – a mindset that naturally spills over to your eating habits.
Consistent fitness requires less overall commitment (just 20-30 minutes a day) than changing all your eating habits (which you need to tackle three to five times a day).
Exercise can, therefore, help someone create that identity more quickly, which can put them in the right state of mind to make improvements in the kitchen.
This is why I often tell people that exercise is the ultimate nutrition hack.

Why Lindsey Marcelli and Her Family Created a Collection of Fitness Coloring Books for Kids
Lindsey Marcelli was disappointed when she couldn’t find a coloring book featuring a barbell for her three children.
“My kids love to color, and I wanted them to be able to color what they love. They enjoy working out with us. They have their own little barbell,” said Marcelli, who has been doing CrossFit since 2007 and was an affiliate owner for eight years.
Further, Marcelli came across a statistic that really got to her.
“Only one in four kids are meeting the recommended daily amount of physical activity,” she said.
So, she took matters into her own hands.
“I knew there had to be a better way to inspire movement,” she said. “I wanted to create something that blended creativity, movement, and a positive mindset, making physical activity feel less like a chore and more like play.”
The result: Marcelli has now published five books in her Color Me Stronger Collection and is working on more.
“The collection keeps growing. I love asking my kids what they want, and we expand on that,” Marcelli said. She is also the founder of both Girls GoneRX and Compete for a Cure, which work together to raise money for breast cancer.
